4월 25일은 안작데이입니다. 이날은 무슨 의미인지, 이날을 뉴질랜드에서는 어떻게 기념하는지  알아봅시다.

April 25 is ANZAC Day. It is a day when Australians and New Zealanders remember the soldiers who died in wars. ANZAC means Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. 

Many people buy red poppies made of paper and wear them on their clothes. The poppies are a symbol of the real poppies that grew in cemeteries around the graves of soldiers. ANZAC Day is on April 25 each year and is a public holiday. 

이날은 호주 사람들과 뉴질랜드 사람들이 전쟁에서 죽은 군인들을 기억하는 날입니다. ANZAC은 Australian and New Zealand Army Corps를 줄인 말입니다.

이날 사람들은 종이로 만든 빨간 양귀비꽃을 사서 옷에 답니다. 양귀비는 군인들의 무덤 주변 묘지에서 자란 진짜 양귀비를 상징합니다. ANZAC의 날은 매년 4월 25일이며 공휴일입니다.

At dawn on ANZAC Day, people can go to a Dawn Service at their local war memorial. During the service, there is a drum roll, the minister does a reading, a man plays the bagpipes and the people sing hymns and lay wreaths on the memorial. Then the people say a special poem altogether and a trumpet player plays ‘The Last Post’, a tune that is usually played at a soldier’s funeral.   

ANZAC데이의 새벽에, 사람들은 그 지역 전쟁 기념관에 있는 새벽 예배에 갑니다. 예배 중에, 드럼이 울리고, 목사님은 낭독을 하고, 백파이프가 연주되고, 사람들은 찬송가를 부르고 기념비에 화환을 놓습니다. 그리고 사람들은 다 같이 시를 낭송하고 트럼펫 연주자는 일반적으로 군인의 장례식에서 연주되는 곡인 ‘The Last Post’를 연주합니다.

There is one minute’s silence to remember the soldiers who died. After the service, the soldiers march away together in a ‘Dawn Parade’. Some people go to the RSA (Returned Services Association) to meet old friends and have a chat. They eat ANZAC biscuits and scones and drink tea or a traditional rum and coffee. The RSA opens at 11am. 

전사한 병사들을 추모하는 1분간의 묵념을 합니다. 예배가 끝난 후, 군인들은 '새벽 퍼레이드'를 하며 함께 행진합니다. 어떤 사람들은 RSA(Returned Services Association)에 가서 오래된 친구들을 만나 이야기를 나누기도 합니다. 그들은 ANZAC 비스킷과 스콘을 먹고 차나 전통 럼주와 커피를 마십니다. RSA는 오전 11시에 열립니다.
