2023년 10월 14일에 뉴질랜드 총선거가 있습니다. 이번 선거일은 10월 14일이지만 10월 2일부터 투표가 가능합니다.

소중한 한 표를 바르게 행사하기 위해, 선거에 관해 공부해 봅시다.

1. Election Words

democratic country: A country where people choose the Government by voting.

vote (v): To show which person or party you choose by marking a piece of paper, raising your hand, etc.

party: a political group of people who have similar ideas. 

electorate: The area of NZ where you live.

government: The group of people who control a country.

law: A rule that the Government makes for the country.

2. General Election

Parliament is in Wellington. This is where the Government works. 

The Government decides important things – schools, hospital, roads, etc. and makes laws for people. 

의회는 웰링턴에 있고 정부가 여기에서 일합니다.

정부는 학교, 병원, 도로 등의 중요한 사랑들을 결정하고 국민을 위한 법으로 제정합니다.

New Zealand is a democratic country. You can vote for the people and parties who will be in the Parliament. 

The Parliament is the group of 120 people chosen in the election. 

뉴질랜드는 민주주의 국가입니다. 우리는 의회에서 일할 사람들과 정당에 투표할 수 있습니다

의회는 선거에서 당선된 120명의 사람으로 이루어집니다.

In the general election you get 2 votes:

One vote is for the political party you want to be the Government. 

One vote is for the person to represent you in the area where you live. 

총선에는 2번의 투표를 합니다. 

한 표는 정부가 되기를 바라는 정당을, 한 표는 사는 지역을 대표하는 사람을 선출합니다.  

3. How to enrol

When you enrol, your name will go on the list of all the voters’ names. 

This list is called the electoral roll.

선거인단에 등록하면 내 이름이 등록됩니다. 

이 리스트가 선거인단 목록입니다.

You can enrol to vote if:

You are 18 years or older.

You have lived in New Zealand for more than 1 year continuously at some time in your life. 

You are a NZ citizen or permanent resident. 

18살 이상이고 뉴질랜드에 1년 이상 거주했고 시민권자나 영주권자이면 등록이 가능합니다.

You can enrol to vote any time:

Before the election day.

On election day (14 October).

You can also enrol at a voting place when you go to vote.

등록은 언제든지 가능합니다.

선거일 전에도 선거 당일에도. 투표소에서도 등록이 가능합니다.
